Anna Wintour's Prom Night

Hello once again Buttons!
It has been entirely too long since I have posted. I have no excuses whatsoever but I promise that not a day went by that I didn't think of my job as your Shop Therapist.

So what do I talk about? The fashion industry's prom was last night so OF COURSE I'll give you my favorites! The Met Costume Institute Gala was last night and anyone who's anyone was there (read: No Kimmy K lolz). So let's get to it! Oh, and I tried to rank these little lovelies but no dice. Too much fabulous.

Carey Mulligan in Prada. Mermaid perfection!

Gotta love the Stone Bone in custom Alber Elbaz for Lanvin.

Elizabeth Banks in a Mary Katrantzou.

Victoria Justice in McQ Alexander McQueen. Cute, fun, age, and venue appropriate. Love.

Beyonce in Givenchy. Di-vine. I'm getting flashes of Cher.

Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen. Because you can never have enough feathers at a ball!

January Jones in Atelier Versace. I got it at Ver-sayce!

Basically, there was just too much fabulous so go over to Vogue UK to watch their slideshow. There were so many fashion risks that were taken, so many walking works of art. Here are a few more of my favorites:
  • Kristen Stewart in a Balenciaga. Sure she looks like she hates her life but I'm loving this dress -- Although it may be a little too casual.
  • Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture
  • Diane Kruger in Prada
  • Rihanna in Tom Ford
  • Rachel Zoe in her own design. Major.
  • Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen: Tonight was a night to wear the haut-est of haute couture. I know Joan Rivers is going to have a ball with this one but I think Flo rocked this one.
  • Christina Ricci in custom Thakoon. Yes, she's tiny and yes, this dress is about to eat her alive but it's GORGEOUS.
  • Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry
  • Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs. Normally her style makes me want to throw stuff but I'm loving this shirt-dress combo.
  • Donatella Versace in (duh) Versace. From the neck down, obvi.
  • Amber Heard in Zac Posen. Love the cut and it's tailored perfectly. I'm not loving the color but I'm guessing the color is much better in person.
  • Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe. Yes, I even love the turban. It's BA-nanas.
  • Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan Atelier

And a few WTFs

Tom Brady's hair. For serious leave it alone. Thank you for cutting it, though.

Marc Jacobs. I love you to pieces and I get it but dress like you've made it because, well, you have made it! You don't need stunt queen moves like this to be in the headlines.

Leighton Meister: Pale is pretty! Look at ScarJo! Spray tans (and tans in general) aren't for everyone. Poor Leighton looks shiny and dirty :(

Emma Roberts. LOVE the dress. HATE the wrinkles. This is the most fabulous red carpet you will EVER walk so I don't care if you have to lay down flat in your town car on the way to the gala!

Kirsten Dunst. I know you've been working on that comeback but dressing like an extra from The Help just isn't working.

Jessica Biel: What did your stylist do to the hem of your dress?? It's like it was stitched on the way to the Met. Major bizarro.

Chloe Sevigny. You look like an a-hole. Just stop.

Mary-Kate Olsen. No words, just WTF?

So there you have it! And I'm back! Leave me some love and tell me about your favorite Met Ball hits and misses in the comments below.

Hugs and kisses!
Melissa, The Shop Therapist
